Chisago County Tenth Judicial District
The Tenth Judicial District includes Anoka, Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Pine, Sherburne, Washington, and Wright Counties. Chisago County Courthouse Access
The courthouse and Government Center are located at 313 N Main Street in Center City. Court Administration is in Suite 350. The Judicial Branch page lists free surface lot and on-street parking and business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The county directions page gives the route from I-35: take the US-8/Taylors Falls exit, travel east to Center City, turn onto CR-9/Andrews Avenue, then follow Main Street to the courthouse. The official material did not publish meter prices, a transit route, a separate ADA entrance, or a prohibited-item list.
The Government Center houses Court Administration, County Attorney, Recorder, Probation, and other offices. The Public Safety Center and Chisago County Jail are separate on Per Road. That distinction matters for records access because court files, criminal complaints, jail booking data, and marriage certificates may be held by different offices even when a person starts at the same general county campus.
Chisago County Court History
Chisago County was organized September 1, 1851. The county history page says the first meeting was held at Samuel Thompson's home on January 5, 1852, and Taylors Falls was chosen as the county seat, then called the "Seat of Justice." The county seat later shifted after disputes, elections, and court involvement as the population center moved. Center City became the county-seat location, and a courthouse built there by John L. Bullard for $5,023.70 was accepted October 13, 1876.
The 1876 wood-frame courthouse stood at the Government Center site until 1990, when it was moved and later placed at the Almelund Threshing Bee grounds.
